provide general overviews of the profession and information about specific parish
nursing programs and services are included in this section. Many of these sites
also offer information on resource materials designed for parish nursing practice.
Health
Ministries Association (HMA)
The mission of the HMA is to encourage, support, and develop whole-person ministries
leading to the integration of faith and health. Additional
site features include information to assist in the planning and development
of health ministries and parish nursing within communities of faith, and general
recommendations on ways to find health information (where to start, what agencies
to contact, etc.).
The
Interfaith Health Program
The Interfaith Health Program, located at the Rollins School of Public Health
at Emory University, was launched in 1992 at The Carter Center following major
national studies which identified the key role of faith groups in advancing
health of individuals and communities especially through prevention and health
promotion. Visit this site for access to speeches and publications, practice
models, resource links, a meetings calendar, and access to the IHP-NET Internet
discussion forum.
The
International Parish Nurse Resource Center
The Resource Center was developed at Lutheran General Health System in 1986
and transferred to Deaconess Parish Nurse Ministries in St. Louis, Missouri
in 2002. The mission of the Center is to promote the development of quality
parish nurse programs through research, education, and consultation. Information
is available on publications, educational programs, and consultation opportunities.

LCMS
Health Ministries
From the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, the site provides resources to encourage
wellness among professional church workers. This site features the full-text
of several health ministries newsletters, monthly health promotion themes, and
the LCMS "Congregational Health Ministries/Parish Nursing Manual."

Carroll
College Parish Nurse Center Links and Resources
The Parish Nurse Center was established through a grant from the Sisters of
Charity of Leavenworth and a number of hospitals to support non-denominational
parish nursing in Montana. The mission of the Parish Nurse Center is to provide
education, support, and consultation for the parish nurse ministry across Montana.
This site provides links to parish nursing sites, health ministry resources,
spirituality health information, and general nursing and health information.
The
Center for Faith-Based & Community Initiatives
The mission of the Center for Faith-Based
and Community Initiatives (CFBCI) is to create an environment within the Department
(HHS) that welcomes the participation of faith-based and community-based organizations
as valued and essential partners assisting Americans in need. The
Center supplies information and training, but it does not make the decisions about
which groups will be funded.
