MEDLINEplus Health Information: Nursing Homes
MEDLINEplus provides quality health care information from the world’s largest medical library, the National Library of Medicine at the National Institutes of Health. This page provides links to general information and overviews, coping resources, information on specific aspects of nursing home care, links to directories and organizations, and statistics. Spanish resource are also available.

Nursing Home Compare
The primary purpose of this tool is to provide detailed information about the performance of every Medicare and Medicaid certified nursing home in the country. Nursing Home Compare provides detailed information about the nursing home, including the number of beds and type of ownership; the residents; inspection results, including summary results from the last state nursing home inspection; and the nursing home staff, including the number of registered nurses, licensed practical or vocational nurses, and nursing assistants in each nursing home.

Nursing Homes: What You Need to Know
This is a resource guide produced by the Maryland Attorney General along with several Maryland agencies and legal organizations to help individuals evaluate nursing homes and alternatives, plan finances, and discuss family wishes. Chapter 10, Where to Get Help provides contact information for nursing home assistance organizations by county. This booklet requires the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to view. Assisted Living Federation of America
Search ALFA's Provider Directory for an Assisted Living provider for yourself or a loved one. Narrow your search by state (up to three states) or country, or search for a specific residence (company name) or a specific chain (parent company name). The site also provides free information and resources such as
Consumer Guide & Checklist and the Assisted Living Consumer Information Statement

What is Assisted Living?
This overview is provided by Assisted Living Info from Nelson & Wallery, Ltd., a financial services and Internet marketing consulting firm specializing in the senior care industry. This site offers selection tips for choosing the right assisted living facility and a search tool for locating assisted living facilities by state, city, or county.

Maryland Assisted Living Programs
This page contains the listings for assisted living facilities that are regulated by the Maryland Office of Health Care Quality. Listings include address, phone number, and contact person. Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to view.

Assisted Living Guide
The Maryland Department of Aging has created a lengthy guide on assisted living. There are 9 chapters in this guide which include an introduction to assisted liiving, the cost of assisted living, how to sign a contract, as well as information about your rights.
